This sample set is not intended to be a jack-of-all-trades Rhodes, but rather, it's how I usually set up and used my Rhodes. It was recorded with EQ, with a treble boost and low-mid scoop, emphasizing the bell tones, and with substantial bark on the higher velocity layers. There are 5 layers, sampled to peak at 3dB difference per layer at on the low notes and to maintain volume throughout each layer. Not all layers are full-keyboard width, as higher notes don't change timbre as much. The set includes 67 16-bit full-length samples, with up to 5 velocity layers, sampling every 4th white key. The samples were recorded directly from the harp connector. Samples are encoded in lossless FLAC format to reduce disk space. Three versions are provided, each with and without velocity cross-fading: - Mono - Stereo - a mild stereo chorus - Stereo Vibrato - classic Fender Rhodes stereo vibrato, almost Controls: - MOD wheel controls stereo width. Since stereo effects are applied using mid-side technique, the effect cancels out completely in mono. However, stereo versions use two voices per note, so use mono version to get more polyphony. Keyswitches: - Use keyswitches to select version and with or without velocity crossfades. Velocity crossfades smooth the transitions between velocity layers, but with two negative side effects. The number of voices used per note is doubled, and on the Rhodes, low notes get some phasing, because the Rhodes low notes go a bit sharp when struck harder. C4 is Middle C (ISO Scientific Pitch Notation.) - G7 - stereo with velocity crossfade (default) - Ab7 - stereo without velocity crossfade - A7 - stereo vibrato with velocity crossfade - Bb7 - stereo vibrato without velocity crossfade - B7 - mono with velocity crossfade - C8 - mono without velocity crossfade "
